Friends of Cathedral Music: National Gathering 2017

13th October 2017 - 15th October 2017

Friends of Cathedral Music pin badgeIn October 2017, Sheffield Cathedral hosts the annual national gathering of the Friends of Cathedral Music. This weekend event, which includes an additional visit to Doncaster Minster, takes the Reformation anniversary as its focus.

The programme includes an illustrated talk about reformation in music and liturgy from the Very Revd Peter Bradley (Dean of Sheffield Cathedral) and Assistant Director of Music, Josh Hales; a session on Sheffield Church Burgesses (established by Mary Tudor in 1554, and arguably an ongoing impact of counter-reformation); and brief tours covering pre-Reformation features in the cathedral.

How are we involved?
On Friday afternoon and Saturday morning, 500 Reformations Director, Dr Iona Hine, will be undertaking an informal residency (at the invitation of local organiser, Virge James).

For the full programme, visit the Friends of Cathedral Music website.
Non-members are welcome to attend, and donations are encouraged.
