Reforming Women: Feminist Stories of Religious Change

March 9 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Free

How did the Reformation shape and reshape female body image? Why and how did some nuns reject the “liberation” offered by reformers? How do decisions taken by sixteenth and seventeenth century bible translators impact women’s lives today?

Historians Elizabeth Goodwin and Sasha Garwood are joined by linguist Iona Hine to tell tales of their encounters with reforming women.

A trio of short talks will be followed by open Q&A chaired by BBC Radio Sheffield’s Jennifer Vernon-Edwards.

This event is part of SheFest, Sheffield’s Fringe Festival marking International Women’s Day.
