Talk About Change
September 23 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Sheffield-based social enterprise Our Mel is dedicated to exploring cultural identity, Black history and what it means to be a person of colour in Britain today. The AHRC-funded Linguistic DNA project has spent three years studying changing meanings in early modern texts. This one-off spoken word event represents the culmination of creative dialogue between Our Mel founder Annalisa Toccara, writer Désirée Reynolds, and Linguistic DNA researchers Iona Hine and Seth Mehl, building on the vision of 500 Reformations — “exploring stories of change from 1517 to 2018”.
Expect original creative pieces inspired by awkward conversations about language, diversity, and how we make meaning.
This event is organised and funded through the University of Sheffield’s Festival of the Mind. (More details to follow.)
