Westminster Symposium

On 31 October, 500 Reformations speaker Professor Robert Stern is one of five speakers participating in a symposium at St Margaret’s Church (adjacent to Westminster Abbey):

This event, entitled Liberated by God’s Grace, brings together leading academics to analyse the ongoing impact of the Reformation, asking about its effect onBob Stern (University of Sheffield) subsequent generations, not only for churches but also for our wider self-understanding and social order.

Professor Stern’s talk “Freedom from the Self: Luther and Løgstrup on Sin as ‘Incurvatus in Se’” will explore the impact of Luther on twentieth century Nordic theology, philosophy of religion and ethics.

Other speakers are: Professor David Crankshaw (King’s College, London); Professor Eamon Duffy (Magdalene College, Cambridge); The Right Reverend Dr Martin Lind (Bishop of the Lutheran Church in Great Britain); and Professor Alexandra Walsham (Trinity College, Cambridge).
